Summer has finally hit the Okanagan, it is HOT out there!
In keeping with the weather we have decided to add some hot tips in our newsletters, starting with Dos and Don’ts of Stamp Care, we get questions all of the time on how to care for certain stamps so when I came across this article about just that, I wanted to share it with you.
Foam Stamps (You remember those!)
Clean them immediately after use especially if you are working with acrylic paint. You can clean them using mild baby wipes and then let them dry before putting them away. DON’T wash them with soap and water as the detergent can cause the foam to seperate from the backing.
Clear Stamps
Clean them periodically with mild soap and warm water to remove any residue and it will restore the stickiness. Storing them on their original clear mounting sheets is best and they can be stored either vertically or horizontally. DON’T worry about stains on them, it does not affect the quality of stamped images and is due to different reactions with the inks and certain acrylic materials.
Rubber Stamps
Clean them immediately after use, using a cleaner designed for rubber stamps. This cleaner will condition the rubber stamp as it cleans it. Stamp off the cleaned stamp to be sure that it is completely clean and then let them dry completely before putting them away. DON’T use soap, household cleaners, or products containing alcohol to clean rubber stamps. They can leave behind a residue or cause the rubber to break down.
Please remember that this is an article that I found, if you have found other suggestions that you would like to share email them to us and we will share them with everyone in our next month’s newsletter!
